USSSA to Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Kissimmee, FL – March 24, 2017 –The United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) will officially celebrate its 50th Anniversary at its National Convention November 12-18, 2017 at the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort, Daytona Beach, FL.
Founded in 1968 as the United States Slo-pitch Softball Association, USSSA expanded its reach in 1997 to become the first multi-sport governing body to oversee slow and fastpitch softball, baseball, basketball and golf.  USSSA has since grown to over 4.5 million participants, sanctioning 14 sports with over 36,000 events each year.
On its golden anniversary, USSSA will be conducting a Grand Opening Celebration of its new home at Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Florida.  The new Brevard County headquarters is located just minutes from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral along the Atlantic Ocean coastline.  The renovation of the former spring training home of the Washington Nationals, scheduled for completion  fall of 2017 will  include 15 all-turf fields, including an 8000 seat Stadium with luxury suites, all able to host baseball, fastpitch and slowpitch softball events, as well as a separate standalone professional training facility with batting cages.
At the helm of the largest national multi-sport association for 18 years, USSSA Chairman of the Board and CEO, Don DeDonatis, couldn’t be happier to kick of the 50th Anniversary with the move to its new home. “I guess all the stars are lining up just right, “said DeDonatis.  “When USSSA began some 50 years ago, I know those 5 guys never imagined it would grow, expand and become what it is today.  The entire USSSA family, both current and retired, have invested blood, sweat and tears into the success of this organization and the culmination of that is what we are looking at today!”
“For 50 years, USSSA has provided its customers with the best possible competition in 14 nationally sanctioned sports and we are about to start a new chapter.  Who knows what the next 20 years will look like”, commented DeDonatis. “I only know, that the sky is the limit.”
Complete anniversary celebration information will be available soon on the website.
