Tournament Aug 12-14 - End of Summer Classic

posted Aug 8, 2011, 10:05 PM by Alan Jacob   [ updated Aug 11, 2011, 3:59 PM ]

The Commerce tournament is full, and the director is unable to expand the tournament due to field limitations. The following weekend (Aug 19-21) in Waterford doesn’t look promising, as we are 1 of 2 teams registered as of yesterday. Keeping our fingers crossed that additional teams register.

In order to avoid a long gap in playing baseball, I was able to secure us a spot in the Grosse Pointe tournament.

The Greyhound Baseball Club will be playing in the Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores “End of Summer Classic” tournament being held this weekend, August 12-14. This is a Little League All Star tournament, and we will be playing up in the 10u division. We should see some good competition from Grosse Pointe, Harper Woods and Rochester Hills. The tournament director is fully aware that we are a 9u federation team playing up in a 10u Little League All Star tournament.

Coaching Staff and Roster

We will be without our NEW head coach this weekend, and his son Grant. Our assistant coaches will be running the dugout this weekend – Al Goerke and Bill Lubanski. Nick Krysinski and I will assist the coaches during each game, so we keep 3 coaches in the dugout for each game.

We are going to carry 12 players in this tournament, as we have a player missing on both Saturday and Sunday due to scheduling. This will put 12 players on the bench for Friday’s game only, and possibly Sunday if we make it to the Championship game. All boys will get plenty of playing time over the weekend, as we will playing 3-5 games.
