Schedule Planning for the 2018 Season

posted Dec 21, 2017, 11:44 PM by Alan Jacob
Greyhound Baseball Club is in the process of scheduling the 2018 Season, which includes practices, scrimmage games, and Tournaments. Scheduling period begins June 1, 2018 and runs through August 6, 2018.

Our tournament season will begin in early June. The start of the season will be dictated by High School player availability.

Schedule Outline
Jan – 2nd Week of March – Indoor practices
June -- Local tournaments will be the focus with a possible travel tournament at the end of the month
July – Local and Travel Tournaments
August – Tournament the first weekend

At this time, we would like all parents to review their family schedules to make sure you don’t have any important dates on your calendar that would cause a conflict with baseball. I would ask that all dates be submitted by Thursday, January 4 via email to Alan Jacob (alan@greyhoundbaseballclub.com). We understand that parents may not be able to make all team events due to other obligations; our concern is whether or not your son will be available.

On Friday, January 5 the team will begin confirming tournaments for the 2018 season, and will take in account all parent requests.  We will do our best to be considerate to all requests; however, we may not have a choice in some cases.  We will begin posting tournaments on our website as they are confirmed. The schedule will be finalized in January, and hotel rooms will be secured by early February. All dates will be posted on the team’s website, be sure to look ahead in the calendar section.

Key Events that should be reviewed
a. School Events – Review events calendars from your child’s school for potential date conflicts, including (without limitation), exam periods, academic and athletic awards convocations, concerts, recitals, class picnics, proms, graduations, trips, and especially group outings.
b. Family & Church Events – Review upcoming events (marriages, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, reunions, etc.) and church group activities (first communions, confirmations, etc.)
c. Holidays & Community Events – Please note that we have several holidays during this time period including: Father’s Day, Memorial Weekend and 4th July Weekend.
d. Athletic Camps - Coaches in other sports (including football, basketball, soccer, lacrosse and hockey) may require players to attend off season camps or clinics during the baseball season. June and July are baseball months, and should take priority over other sports.

Thanks!! – Greyhound Baseball Club
