Greyhound Baseball Club played in the USSSA Oktoberfest tournament this weekend in Canton, MI. This was the first official 13u tournament for the 2015 Greyhounds, with 80' bases and 54' pitching. The boys had no problem adapting to the larger playing field, but the cold weather was a different story.

The weather this weekend in Canton was brutal on Saturday, with cold temperatures and gusty winds the entire day. The tournament started on Saturday with a 3hr rain delay for most age brackets, which pushed our first game to 4:30pm. The Greyhounds started off slow, and ended up losing Game 1 (5-2) to the NW Oakland Rattlers. The boys bounced back in Game 2 with a 9-1 win over the Michigan Lazers.

The team returned on Sunday to face the Oakland Iron Pigs in Game 3 of pool play, and won 8-0, with a mercy in the 4th inning. The Greyhounds earned the #1 seed, and would face the Oakland Iron Pigs in the championship game. The Greyhounds came out red hot, and once again ended the game in the 4th inning, with the a score of 14-0 to win the tournament.

It was another exciting weekend of baseball for all the Greyhound players, coaches and families.

The Greyhounds would also like to thank Matthew Stewart and Liam Pollack for playing with the team on Saturday. We had a shortage of players on Saturday due to football and hockey, and we appreciate you helping us out so we could field a team.

Great job this weekend Greyhounds!!
