Greyhound Baseball Club traveled to Battle Creek, MI this past week to compete in the AABC 13u Nolan Ryan World Series. The tournament was held at Bailey Park, with 14 teams in attendance representing 4 states - MI, OH, NY and NJ.

The Greyhounds kicked off pool play on Thursday, July 30 with an 11-0 win over the NJ Hurricanes and a 12-10 win over the White Plains Generals from NY. The boys returned the following day for the third game in pool play, with a 10-0 win over the Spring Arbor Hammers, earning the Greyhounds a spot in the Gold Division championship bracket. The bottom 6 teams competed for the Silver championship.

The Greyhounds started the road to the championship with a 5-4 win over the Michigan Mudcats on Friday evening,  and a 5-0 win over the South Troy Dodgers from NY on Saturday morning. This would set the stage for a championship game between the Midland Indians from OH, who just came off a big win over Bonnie's Baseball from NY.

The Indians came out strong in the first three inning jumping to a 2-0 lead. The Greyhound responded in the 4th inning putting up 2 runs to even the score, however the Indians responded in the bottom of the 4th with a third run. The Greyhounds bats heated up in the 5th inning, posting 6 runs and again the 6th with another run. Ryan Basey provided a solid effort on the mound going 6 innings, and Zach Moore came in to close the game in the 7th. It was an exciting baseball tournament for all 12 players, and a great way to end the season.

The Greyhound Players were presented with championship rings, team trophy and banner.
