Greyhound Baseball Club attended the Game Day USA Grand Slam Freedom Classic over the 4th of July weekend. The tournament was held at Grand Park in Westfield, IN, with 19 teams competing in the 13u division. This was the 2nd trip to Grand Park for the Greyhounds since the park opened last year, and the first time for a few of our new players. Everyone was impressed with the facility, and the overall growth in the area.....An amazing place for youth sports to say the least!

The Greyhounds earned the #4 seed in pool play after going 2-0  on Friday and Saturday, with a 15-5 win over the Avon JR Orioles and 11-1 win over the Indiana Arabians. The first game in bracket play on Sunday was against Beaver Valley Red who earned the #5 seed.

Beaver Valley Red jumped to an early lead, and put the Greyhounds in a mercy position in the 5th inning (9-1). The team rallied back in the 5th to score 2 runs and another run in the 6th. In the 7th inning, the Greyhounds scored 6 runs, which ended with a line drive by Ryan Brown scoring both Brayden Tava and Logan Morris for the 10-9 win. It was a big win for the team, and the most exciting game of the weekend.

The Greyhounds continued to play strong in the semi-final game with a 10-0 win over the Indiana Eagles, and earned a spot in the championship game against Diamond Dynamics. The Greyhounds struggled early on to score runs, and made a strong push in the 5th and 6th inning, but the game ended with a 7-4 loss. Congratulations to the players and coaches from Diamond Dynamics for an outstanding game of baseball. Both teams played well, and the game ended with zero errors.

Great job this weekend Greyhound Players and Coaches!
