Greyhounds earn #1 seed at Cinco de Mayo - lose in semi-final

The Greyhounds kicked off the 2014 tournament season on Friday, April 25 against the Michigan Storm in the USSSA Cinco de Mayo NIT. Both teams played a good game of baseball, and in the end, the Greyhounds won 6-2.

The boys returned on Saturday morning with a 3-1 win over the Michigan Lazers, and a 5-1 win against the Oakland Diamondbacks. Solid defense, good pitching, and timely hits earned the Greyhounds the #1 seed going into bracket play on Sunday.

20 teams entered the 12u division, with 8 teams earning a position in bracket play.
1 - Greyhound Baseball Club
2 - Michigan Longhorns
3 - Detroit Bees
4 - Oakland Reds
5 - West Oakland Wings
6 - Saline Hornets
7 - Oakland Diamond Backs
8 - Sterling Heights Nationals.

The Greyhounds and Nationals both started Sunday off with good pitching a solid defense through 5 innings. In the 5th inning, the bats came alive for the Greyhounds, and the game ended with a 9-1 mercy.

The Oakland Reds ended up being more than the team could handle in the semi-final game, losing 5-0. The Greyhounds played a great weekend of baseball against several good teams, and the coaching staff was very proud of their performance on and off the field. The Oakland Reds went on to win in the final game 11-8 over the Detroit Bee's.
