The Greyhounds traveled to Westfield, IN this past weekend for the Game Day USA Grand Slam Freedom Classic. The tournament hosted 11 teams in the 12u division and was held at the brand new Grand Park facility.

The Grand Park facility is absolutely amazing, and will only improve in the coming years at it matures. The city of Westfield has invested in the best of everything throughout the facility and surrounding area, and development is ongoing. This place is top notch from parking, field maintenance, concessions, signs and directions, field drainage, landscaping, etc. All 12u games were played on 100% synthetic fields, which was a first for the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds went 1-1 in pool play with a win over Southern Ohio Sting on Friday and and loss to the Lids Indiana Bulls Black on Saturday. Both games were highly competitive and earned the Greyhounds the #6 seed going into Sunday.

On Sunday, the Greyhounds started off with solid pitching and hot bats to knock out the #3 seed Chicago Lions (10-4), and the #2 seed Evansville (5-2). The championship game was against the Lids Indiana Bulls Black and was a pitching dual from start to finish. The boys held the Bulls to 4 runs, but was unable to produce any runs against their top pitcher. Hats off to the Bulls Black for winning the championship, and being ranked as the #10 team in the country.

The Greyhounds earned another World Series opportunity this weekend with Game Day USA, and played solid baseball this weekend going 3-2.
